Many people get the Master Scuba Diver qualification for their own personal sense of achievement to recognise that they have a good level of diving experience and in some countries they do accept the MSD qualification to allow people not to complete Scuba Reviews or refreshers if they haven't dived for over 6 months.

Often people complete the Master Scuba Diver qualification on their way to becoming a Divemaster too as many people like to get some specialties and if it's just one or two more they need to do to get the extra certification many people think why not.

If you never plan to work as a Divemaster or Instructor then staying as a Master Scuba Diver makes perfect sense as it means that there are no annual fees that you need to pay for membership to PADI as there is with the professional level courses like Divemaster and Instructor.

The MSD Programme is PADI's highest recreational diving certification. If you aren't planning to work as a Diving professional but would like hone your diving skills then this is the option for you.

As a Master Scuba Diver your experience will open up a new level of confidence whether you're diving local wrecks, reefs or exploring exciting dive environments around the world.

To enrol on the MSD programme all you have to do is choose the specialty courses you want to do and pick up the relevant manuals. Most speciality courses are diving based so you can study in your own time without having to come to the classroom.
